Crohn's Disease from Cows Milk

(source) ScienceDaily (Dec. 13, 2007) — Scientists at the University of Liverpool have found how a bacterium, known to cause illness in cattle, may cause Crohn's disease in humans. Although this connection is controversial.

Crohn's is a condition that affects one in 800 people in the UK and causes chronic intestinal inflammation, leading to pain, bleeding and diarrhea.

The team found that a bacterium called Mycobacterium paratuberculosis ( or "Map") releases a molecule that prevents a type of white blood cell from killing E.coli bacteria found in the body. E.coli is known to be present within Crohn’s disease tissue in increased numbers.

It is thought that the Mycobacteria make their way into the body’s system via cows’ milk and other dairy products. In cattle it can cause an illness called Johne's disease - a wasting, diarrheal condition. Until now, however, it has been unclear how this bacterium could trigger intestinal inflammation in humans.

Professor Jon Rhodes, from the University’s School of Clinical Sciences, explains:

“Mycobacterium paratuberculosis has been found within Crohn’s disease tissue but there has been much controversy concerning its role in the disease. This molecule prevents a type of white blood cells, called macrophages, from killing internalized E.Coli.”

Scientists have previously shown that people with Crohn’s disease have increased numbers of a ‘sticky’ type of E.coli and weakened ability to fight off intestinal bacteria. The suppressive effect of the Mycobacterial molecule on this type of white blood cell suggests it is a likely mechanism for weakening the body’s defense against the bacteria.

Professor Rhodes added: "We also found that this bacterium is a likely trigger for a circulating antibody protein (ASCA) that is found in about two thirds of patients with Crohn's disease, suggesting that these people may have been infected by the Mycobacterium."

The team is beginning clinical trials to assess whether an antibiotic combination can be used to target the bacteria contained in white blood cells as a possible treatment for Crohn’s disease.

The research was funded by Core and the Medical Research Council and is published in Gastroenterology.

Advantages of Freeze-Dried AMP

Different processing methods, as they apply to AMP, are important for 2 reasons; cost & quality.

Knowing what or which method was used prior to purchasing Aloe Mucilaginous Polysaccharides (AMP) will help you to better understand if the product's price & quality is in-line with its manufacturing process.

The benefits of freeze-dried AMP are abundant, not just in the Aloe Vera industry, but across the entire dietary and pharmaceutical landscape.

Freeze drying works by freezing the material and then reducing the surrounding pressure and adding enough heat to allow the frozen water in the material to sublime directly from the solid phase to gas.

Freeze drying causes less damage to AMP than other dehydration methods using higher temperatures. Freeze drying does not cause shrinkage or toughening of the AMP while it is being processed. In addition, much of the chemical makeup of AMP is left unchanged.

Freeze-dried AMP reconstitutes (rehydrates) much more quickly because the process leaves microscopic pores. The pores are created by the crystals that sublimate, leaving gaps or pores in its place. This is especially important when it comes to the absorption of AMP by the body. Freeze drying also increases the shelf life of AMP.

Advantages Include:

  • Little to no thermal damage
  • Great retention of chemical makeup
  • Great polysaccharide retention
  • Rapid rehydration
  • Little to no shrinkage

The only disadvantage to freeze-dried AMP is that it costs more to process. Even though the process is expensive, the benefits of the resulting quality of AMP outweigh the cost.

Benefits Include:

  • Higher potency
  • Faster absorption by the body
  • Increased remission lengths
  • Lower consumption levels
  • Supports the immune system & digestive health
Quality of AMP should be the most important indicator for you. Good AMP has some of the qualities mentioned above. However, premium quality AMP contains the full spectrum of polysaccharide chains found in aloe, bundled with the benefits stated above.

There are four varying polysaccharides lengths and it is the synergistic existence of these 4 chains that contain the healing ability of AMP.

When alternate & cheaper methods are used to process AMP, you are left with a slow-acting and ineffective aloe product.

Do not waste any more money on poor imitations.

This is the reason prices vary from one bottle of AMP to the next. But more importantly, it is this very reason that will determine whether or not that bottle of AMP you are consuming will ultimately make a more noticeable difference in your life.

SEROVERA® delivers more quality, quantity, purity, and cost savings per bottle than any other AMP product sold. We guarantee it.
